Oculoplasty is the science of plastic surgery around the eye. It also denotes the cosmetic correction around Eye. Eyelid Anomalies.

Ptosis is drooping of the upper lid. It may be present by birth or appear later in life. Ptosis is usually corrected by surgery.

Causes of Ptosis

Ptosis results from a weakening of the muscle responsible for raising the eyelid or from damage to the nerves that control the muscle. In most cases, ptosis may simply be caused by loose skin on the upper eyelid. most of the time, the reason for ptosis is quite troubling. In addition to the possibility of the disorder occurring as a congenital condition, or as a consequence of an injury or surgery.

Ptosis may be caused by:

  • Growth in the eyelid, such as a style
  • Bell’s palsy
  • Stroke
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Horner syndrome
  • Benign or malignant tumor
Treatments of Ptosis.

Causes
  • Aging can lead to entropion. As the person ages, there is a lot of loose skin around the eyelids, which weakens the muscles under the eye and the tendons and ligaments in the area relax
  • The other contributing factor is the scarring of the skin.scarring could be from trauma, surgery,radiation to the face or chemical burns. this leads to the change in the natural curvature of the eyelids
  • Congenital issues can rarely be from the time of birth.
Treatment

Eye drops or artificial tears may soothe some symptoms in the case of mild cases.

  • Botox :-Injecting botox into the lower eyelid is a method to relax the lid muscles and prevent them from contracting inwards.
  • Surgery:-Several types of surgery can treat entropion.
