LASIK is a laser procedure that reshapes the front surface of your eye (the cornea) so light focuses correctly on its own. It does permanently what your glasses are doing right now, temporarily.
It corrects myopia (minus power / short sight), hyperopia (plus power / long sight) and astigmatism (cylindrical power).
The procedure takes about 10 to 15 minutes for both eyes. You stay awake, the eye is numbed with drops only, and you walk out the same day. Most people with desk jobs are back at work within 48 hours.
But here is the part most websites skip: LASIK is not one procedure, and not every eye is suitable for it. Your corneal thickness, corneal shape, power and tear film decide which method is safest for you — blade-free LASIK, SMILE, Contoura Vision or PRK. That is the entire purpose of the pre-LASIK evaluation, and it is the appointment that matters most.

How It Works
Anaesthetic drops go into the eye. There is no injection and no pain during the procedure.
Depending on the method chosen for you, an ultra-thin flap is created, or in SMILE, a small keyhole opening is made instead.
The cool excimer laser reshapes your cornea. This is the step that actually removes your power, and it takes only a few seconds per eye.
The flap is smoothed back into position, where it seals naturally without stitches. In SMILE, the keyhole simply closes on its own.
A microscope check confirms everything is in place, and you go home the same day to rest.

Bring earlier reports, your current glasses, and a list of eye drops or medicines. Tell us about diabetes, allergies, blood thinners, and any recent redness or injury.
