Service Overview

Field OCT in a glaucoma clinic means two complementary tests: a visual field (perimetry) that maps what you can see in the side vision, and an OCT scan of the optic nerve and retinal nerve-fibre layer. Together they show whether glaucoma is present, how advanced it is, and whether it is progressing — often before you feel any change. At Neera Eye Centre both are used to decide drops, laser, or surgery and to keep a long-term record of your nerve.

What It Covers

Visual field (perimetry)

Lights of different brightness test central and peripheral vision, one eye at a time.

Optic-nerve OCT

A light scan measures disc cupping and the nerve-fibre layer in micrometres.

Progression analysis

Repeat tests are compared so silent worsening is caught early.

Treatment decisions

Results guide pressure targets, drops, SLT/laser, or surgery counselling.

Who It Is For

Raised eye pressure

Anyone with high IOP, a suspicious disc, or a family history of glaucoma.

Known glaucoma

Patients already on drops who need proof that the nerve is stable.

Unexplained field complaints

People who bump into objects, miss steps, or fail a driving field screen.

How It Works

1

Field test

You sit at the perimeter, click when you see a light, and keep the eye still.

2

OCT scan

Chin on the rest; a few seconds of light mapping the optic nerve — usually no contact.

3

Same-visit review

Your doctor explains the field and OCT together and the next step in care.

Why Choose Field OCT Here

Visual field and glaucoma OCT sit in the same centre as pressure checks, gonioscopy, and pachymetry, so a full glaucoma work-up can be completed at Darya Ganj without sending you elsewhere for imaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Field OCT the same as a retina OCT?

The machine family is similar. Glaucoma Field OCT focuses on the optic nerve, nerve-fibre layer, and your visual field — not mainly on macular swelling.

Does the field test hurt?

No. It is tiring for a few minutes because you must concentrate. You can blink and rest between points.

How often should I repeat it?

New or unstable glaucoma may need fields and OCT every 3–6 months; stable eyes are often checked yearly. Your doctor will set the interval.
