Service Overview
SLET restores the skin of the cornea when limbal stem cells are gone. Those cells live at the edge of the cornea (the limbus). After a chemical burn, injury or chronic inflammation they may not grow a clear surface anymore.
The eye then stays painful, red, and crossed with new blood vessels. Lubricants are not enough.
We place tiny bits of healthy limbus — usually from your other eye — on an amniotic membrane so a new epithelium can grow.
SLET is not a magic 6/6 operation. The first job is a stable, wettable surface. A later transplant or lens may still be needed. We will not harvest a large piece from a precious only-seeing eye without saying the donor risk out loud.

Cost

There is no single figure that fits every eye. The technique, whether one or both eyes are treated, and any other condition found on examination can change the plan.
Your scans, the treatment that suits your eye, and whether extra care is needed for a second condition. The written estimate lists what is included before a date is fixed.
How It Works
The eye is numbed. You should not feel pain.
A very small limbal sample from the healthy eye (or a donor).
Pieces are laid on amniotic membrane over the prepared cornea.
Bandage lens, drops, no rubbing.
The new surface takes weeks. Vision is judged later.

What the first days look like depends on whether this is a scan, medical treatment, or a procedure. At Neera Eye Centre we explain drops, precautions, and the review date before anything is scheduled.
Bring earlier reports, your current glasses, and a list of eye drops or medicines. Tell us about diabetes, allergies, blood thinners, and any recent redness or injury.
Follow the plan you are given — observation, drops, or a procedure date. Avoid rubbing the eye. Call us the same day if pain, redness, or blurred vision gets worse instead of settling.

I recently underwent Topography-guided PRK (Contoura) surgery here, and my experience was absolutely fantastic.
