Service Overview

An intravitreal injection places medicine directly into the gel at the back of the eye. Anti-VEGF drugs and selected steroids reduce swelling from diabetic macular oedema, wet age-related macular degeneration, and retinal vein occlusions. The injection itself takes seconds after the eye is cleaned and numbed. OCT then guides how often you need the next dose.

What It Covers

Anti-VEGF therapy

Medicines that block leaky new vessels and macular swelling.

Diabetic macular oedema

A leading cause of vision loss in diabetes — often injection-first care.

Wet AMD

Controls bleeding and fluid under the macula.

Vein occlusion swelling

Reduces macular oedema after a blocked retinal vein.

Who It Is For

Macular fluid on OCT

Patients whose scans show treatable swelling at the centre of vision.

Wet macular degeneration

Sudden distortion or a dark patch that needs prompt anti-VEGF.

Diabetic or vein-occlusion oedema

When tablets or laser alone will not dry the macula.

How It Works

1

OCT and consent

A scan confirms fluid and the medicine choice is explained.

2

Sterile prep and injection

The eye is cleaned, numbed, and a tiny dose is given in seconds.

3

Scheduled repeats

Follow-up OCT decides loading doses versus treat-and-extend intervals.

Why Choose Our Injection Clinic

Injections are given in a controlled clinic setting by retina specialists, with OCT before and after so you are not on a fixed lifetime schedule without review. That keeps treatment effective while avoiding unnecessary visits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I feel the injection?

You may feel pressure. Anaesthetic drops are used first. The needle is very fine and the dose is tiny.

How many injections will I need?

Many people start with a loading series, then intervals are stretched if OCT stays dry. Your plan is individual.

What should I watch for after the shot?

Mild redness or floaters can occur. Sudden severe pain, a curtain over vision, or marked redness needs an urgent call.

Not sure which treatment is right for you?

Book a comprehensive eye evaluation. Our specialists will recommend the best course of action for your vision.
