Fundus Fluorescein Angiography is a specialised camera test of the retina. A fluorescein dye is given in a vein in the arm, then a series of photographs records how the dye fills the retinal vessels. It shows leaks, blockages, and abnormal new vessels that a colour photo or OCT may not fully explain. Retina specialists use it to plan laser, injections, or surgery for diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, and vein occlusions.

Pupils dilated

Is Fundus Fluorescein Angiography the same as OCT?
No. OCT shows retinal layers in cross-section. Fluorescein angiography shows blood flow and leakage with a dye. They are often used together.
Is the fluorescein dye safe?
Most people only notice yellow skin or urine for a day. Tell us about allergies, kidney disease, or pregnancy before the test.
Can I drive after the test?
Pupils stay large for a few hours. Bring sunglasses and prefer not to drive yourself that afternoon.
